2025 Prosumer Family Report: Redefining What Family Means Today
Family remains one of the most powerful stabilizing forces in a world marked by growing uncertainty. The 2025 Prosumer Family Report- based on a global survey of 14,500 adults across 30 countries- explores how the very idea of “Family” is evolving amid new pressures, shifting expectations, and changing relationship dynamics.
What’s Shaping Family Today
- Family as a source of strength: More than 9 out of 10 Prosumers say family is a key source of happiness and emotional support, and 79% rely on it as a financial safety net.
- A widening generational divide: While 65% of Boomers believe building a family is essential, only 43% of Gen Z feel the same-reflecting rising concerns about financial strain, life instability, and the weight of parenthood.
- Family redefined: 71% of Prosumers now prioritize bonds of love over blood ties, with blended and chosen families increasingly embraced. Nearly 1 in 6- 14% of Prosumers and 16% of mainstream consumers- even feel closer to their pets than most people in their lives.
- Pressures at a historic high: From increased parental anxiety (especially among women) to declining shared rituals like family meals, today’s families face new emotional and cultural pressure points. A majority also believe society is losing its sense of traditional family values.
