Introducing the Prosumer Gen AI Report 2024: Vietnam’s Distinctive Perspective

The 2024 Prosumer Gen AI Report reveals how people around the world are embracing generative AI - and Vietnam stands out among the most optimistic markets. Conducted across 14,000 people from 32 countries (including Vietnam), the study highlights a global shift toward AI‑enabled lifestyles. Globally, 62% of Prosumers believe AI will create a future with more free time and greater happiness, and Vietnam mirrors this positive outlook.

AI Transforming Education & Medicine

Across markets, AI is expected to enhance learning and reduce medical errors. Still, concerns persist: 63% of global Prosumers doubt teachers are prepared to guide students on AI, and only 42% would trust an AI to perform surgery. Vietnam shares these expectations - balancing optimism with calls for stronger human oversight.

Vietnam Leads in AI‑Driven Safety

Globally, 80% of Prosumers believe AI will improve public safety. In Vietnam, confidence is even higher: 93% of Vietnamese Prosumers say AI will help predict and prevent crime - one of the highest scores across all countries (vs. 82% mainstream locally).

Ethics & Regulation Remain Universal Priorities

Despite enthusiasm, both global and Vietnamese respondent's express concerns over privacy, bias, and corporate control. Echoing global sentiment, 76% of Prosumers believe governments must regulate generative AI to safeguard society.

Prosumer vs. Mainstream: Understanding the Difference

Within the study, two consumer groups play a central role in shaping perceptions of generative AI:

Prosumers are early adopters who are more informed, more proactive with AI, and more optimistic about its potential to improve education, medicine, and everyday life. They also tend to influence broader societal attitudes. In short: Prosumers are forward‑looking trendsetters who move first.

Mainstream consumers, meanwhile, represent the larger public. They adopt technology more slowly, interact with AI less frequently, and approach its impact with more caution - particularly around issues like privacy, bias, and job security.

In short: Mainstream reflects today’s general population, engaging with AI more gradually and carefully.
